According to him, an important goal of the project is to create a complete technological chain from nickel sulfate production to the processing of cathode active materials. This will make battery production more environmentally friendly and green. One of the main challenges on the way to this is to ensure sufficient metal recovery from batteries, Busko noted.

Norilsk Nickel has already achieved the first results in this direction and plans to complete the development of the technology when large-scale production is launched, the vice president added.

Norilsk Nickel also successfully completed the development of laboratory samples of cathode active materials for lithium-ion batteries
