On September 23, one of OpenAI’s accounts on social network X was hacked, resulting in malicious advertising for a fake cryptocurrency token appearing on the account, Bloomberg reported.

The agency notes that OpenAI is aware of the problem and is already studying it. The malicious advertisement has now been removed, RB.RU found out.

The ad contained information about “the $OPENAI token, which combines artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies,” The Verge writes. The publication notes that the ad also contained a link to the fake OpenAI website, which invited users to connect a crypto wallet.

  • This is the fourth time since June 2023 that OpenAI and its employees’ accounts have been hacked for malicious advertising of fake crypto tokens, TechCrunch reported.
