Controversy has existed in the world for several months over the project cryptocurrency which scans the iris is called world coin and proposes a universal basic income system through biometric authentication, ensuring that every person has a unique digital identity, developed by Tools for Humanity.

Unlike other cryptocurrencies, Worldcoin does not require an initial investment to obtain tokens, which could promote more equitable access to the global economy. However, concerns have arisen about the privacy and security of the biometric data collected. The registration process on Worldcoin involves using a device called an orb, which scans the user’s iris and creates a unique address, thus ensuring the authenticity of each registration.

Now Worldcoin has announced a pilot project Face authenticationa new security feature based on the face authentication technology that is already used by millions of people today, and is designed to ensure that only those who have verified their World ID on Sphere can use it.

“This marks a significant step towards secure, privacy-focused identity verification for online activities, financial transactions, and more. Worldcoin’s mission is to create a secure, privacy-preserving human identity system in a world where it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between humans and bots. The project aims to solve these problems by offering a simple and anonymous way to verify whether a person is human without revealing their identity,” the statement reads.

How does Face Auth work?

  • Taking a selfie: When using Face Auth, the user will be prompted to take a selfie through the World app on their phone.
  • Comparison: The app compares this selfie with a high-resolution image taken during the ball check, which is securely stored and encrypted on the user’s phone.
  • Examination: If the two images match, Face Auth verifies the user and allows them to continue the transaction or log in.

According to the people at Worldcoin: “for users, Face Auth will be as familiar as ever Apple Face IDbut with one key difference: Face Auth ensures that the same person who created the World ID in the sphere is using the World app. Unlike Face ID, which is tied to the device hardware, Face Auth is tied to the app. “This approach ensures that no one other than the verified person can access the World ID, reducing the risk of fraud.”
