These will be the first perpetual futures on shares of Russian companies on the market. With the launch of the instrument on the Moscow Exchange, a new segment of the derivatives market will open up. Investors will be able to make money on changes in the value of shares without buying them, and large market participants will receive additional opportunities for their strategies, the Moscow Exchange said.

Currently, perpetual contracts for gold, the Moscow Exchange index and currency pairs with the Russian ruble, the euro, the Chinese yuan and the US dollar are traded on the Moscow Exchange derivatives market.

Sberbank is the largest participant in the Moscow Stock Exchange index with a capitalization of 6.16 trillion rubles, Gazprom is in fourth place with a capitalization of 3.31 trillion rubles.

Perpetual futures are overnight contracts that automatically extend without specifying a settlement or expiration date.
