The registry of miners in Russia will be developed and maintained by the Federal Tax Service (FTS). The deputy chairman of the Committee on Information, Communications and Information Policy of the State Duma, Anton Gorelkin, spoke about this on his Telegram channel.

“This is the right and logical step, since the Federal Tax Service is one of our most technologically advanced departments. And the department has much more experience working with the cryptocurrency market, as well as miners, than the Ministry of Digital Development,” he said.
On August 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the legalization of mining in Russia. The document will come into force on November 1, 2024.
From this day on, Russian individual entrepreneurs and companies will have the right to legally engage in cryptocurrency mining, but only after being included in the register to be created by the Federal Tax Service. According to Gorelkin, the miner registry is not a publicly accessible document, but should be available only for official use.
Individuals can also engage in mining. Registration is not required, but “mining” (the process of verifying cryptocurrency transactions and adding information about them to the blockchain) will be possible within the energy consumption limits set by the Russian government.
A study published in the Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics found that the quality of life of cryptocurrency traders is lower than that of non-cryptocurrency traders. Respondents who trade cryptocurrencies are more likely to experience sleep problems and higher stress levels.
