Starting November 1, drivers will be able to park for free in central Moscow with minimum occupancy. This opportunity will appear on Ilyinka, New Square, Tverskaya Zastava, Rozhdestvensky Boulevard and Nikitsky Lane. This was reported by the press service of the capital’s transport department.

A pilot project for dynamic parking pricing has already been tested in Moscow and has had good results. Now this system is available to all motorists. “The cost of parking has more than once been 0 rubles, that is, participants could leave the car in a paid parking lot and not spend money,” the department clarified.
Parking costs start from 0 rubles with minimum occupancy. The rate will vary depending on the occupancy of the parking lot and will reach a maximum of 800 rubles per hour if there are no empty spaces. “These conditions will be applied during the pilot project and then the mechanics will be refined based on feedback from drivers,” the transport department said.
The dynamic tariff will allow motorists to plan their route in advance, taking into account the expected cost of parking. Drivers will be able to see where and at what time of day there are more empty seats, which will help them save money, the Department of Transportation said.
Testing of the dynamic tariff began on September 16. The authorities continue to work on the tariff table for a more efficient use of parking spaces. The mayor’s office believes that if there are a large number of free spaces, parking can be free and, as it fills up, the rate will increase.
