While there was no loss of life, the fire caused serious damage to the factory and it was reported that the building partially collapsed. The factory was producing components for the iPhone, but it was unclear how much damage was done to the adjacent building, where smartphone assembly will begin later this year.

Tata Electronics is yet to comment on possible delays in production, but the incident is likely to delay the start of operations.
