Depending on the platform, the gift can be added to the new Gifts tab on your profile or redeemed for a portion of the star value.

The sender can hide his name. The recipient will know who sent the gift, but other users won’t see the sender’s name, even if the gift appears on their profile.

As Pavel Durov said, Telegram will soon provide the opportunity to convert gifts into NFTs based on TON, the platform’s cryptocurrency. Users will be able to auction tokenized gifts outside of Telegram and ownership of the image will be recorded on the blockchain.

Additionally, the messenger now has a code sending feature to confirm customers’ phone numbers. Companies, websites or applications will be able to send codes via Telegram and pay for them on the Fragment platform. Shipping will cost $0.01 per user.

Other updates announced by the platform include:

  • new categories for content complaints, such as “illegal goods”, “copyright”, “fraud or spam”, “personal information” and others;

  • redesigned video chat interface on iOS;

  • Support for live streams in RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) mode in the Android app. The feature is available for iOS devices and PC starting in 2022.

The beta test of the paid gift feature on Telegram became known last week. At the same time, it was reported that the gift received could become 85% of the “stars” of the face value.
