Every new iPhone should have its own “gate”. This happened a long time ago with the iPhone 4, and according to this tradition, no Apple smartphone has broken this tradition since then.
It’s been 3 weeks since iPhone 16 sales began – here’s our review of the Pro model, and here are our impressions of the Pro Max. The time has come.
We present a fresh application on a proprietary problem in the iPhone 16 – not as critical as in some other generations, but still stated enough to accept the calculation when using the device and purchasing accessories for it.
The new iPhone camera button breaks easily
The button broke and stopped responding to swipes.
Much has already been said about this button bed: the location is inconvenient, the functionality and necessity are controversial, and not all announced functions are available with it by the start of iPhone 16 sales.
Now it turns out that you can easily break it yourself.
Reddit user under the name @EarnSomeRespect reported that he was able to unexpectedly quickly break up a new family after an insignificant fall of the iPhone on the edge on the left side. Let me remind you that the button is covered with sapphire glass, like on top Apple Watch models: it survives scratches without a trace, but it breaks a little easier than regular tempered glass.
You should have a logical reflection on this. You can just put on the case and not worry. But…
Cases don’t help
The original case didn’t help if it didn’t.
The main “trick” of his story: a proprietary transparent MagSafe case was discovered on the iPhone 16. It provides protection for this button there is a special block that transmits touches and swipes of the switch to operate new camera functions. The blow fell in this area.
Many manufacturers make cases with this key and don’t bother as much as Apple does with its accessories. Most simply leave a large “hole” in this place. The button is slightly recessed into the body, but if a fall falls on its side, not only the frame will be damaged, but also the button itself.
It turns out that the fragile sapphire glass on the keys cannot be special (obviously expensive to produce) protection from Apple and, especially, external accessories.
Typical iPhone 16 external cases.
Apple obviously will not accept such damage under warranty. The cost of repairing the keyboard is still unknown, since there are no Chinese spare parts to replace it in an unauthorized service center. Some in the comments believe that the company did not provide for this case at all, and the entire President’s iPhone will be replaced by phone call.
Morality? I can recommend iPhone 16 owners… but nothing, basically. Despite being an attentive observer, one of the participants falls on the smartphone. If you have a good reaction, and the “sixth” flies this step to the floor, the outline, well, I don’t know, kick him – there’s still nothing to lose, at least you won’t break the cool and last button.
In short, you you’re just dropping it wrong.
