An investigation has begun. If the operators are found guilty, the companies may be fined or ordered to transfer illegally obtained revenues to the state budget.

“Tele2 will be the first operator to cancel the additional fee in Crimea. This will happen before October 8, 2024 in connection with the technical implementation of the process,” the department said.

The FAS also claims that there are no longer any requirements for charging excessive tariffs; the necessary economic conditions have been created for all telecom operators. Inter-operator roaming services in the region have been reduced by 2-3 times after the consideration of the antitrust case against K-telecom LLC.

“The service continues to work on gradually bringing tariffs for communication services when travelling in Russia to the level of the home region,” the FAS added.

In early July, the FAS warned telecom operators MTS, Megafon and Beeline for charging this additional fee. The department considered that the operators’ actions infringed on the interests of subscribers.
