The authors of the film previously promised that they would reveal the identity of the creator of Bitcoin, known under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. The film claims that Todd is the creator of cryptocurrencies.
Todd himself told Coindesk that director Cullen Hoback, known for previously revealing the identity of the man behind the QAnon conspiracy theory, was “clutching at straws” if he identified Todd as Satoshi Nakamoto.
“Of course I’m not Satoshi,” Todd said.
He added that in the film, Hoback himself resorted to QAnon-style conspiracy theories.
Bitcoin was created in 2009. The name Satoshi Nakamoto first appeared in the White Paper (a document describing the principles of cryptocurrencies). It is still unknown whether we are talking about one person or a group of developers using a collective pseudonym.
At various times, the creator of Bitcoin was called the cryptographer Nick Szabo, the entrepreneur and scientist Craig Wright, as well as the director of Tesla, Starlink and Neuralink, Elon Musk.
Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery also includes footage of an interview with the head of the Blockstream payments system, Adam Back, who previously stated that he corresponded with the creator of the cryptocurrency.
