According to Dianova, a study was completed in the United States in 2023 that confirmed the close link between diabetes and red meat consumption. The harm lies in the fact that the saturated fat, heme iron and chemical preservatives used in red meat trigger inflammation and oxidative stress. As a result, fat accumulates in the internal organs, obesity and insulin resistance begin, which leads to the development of diabetes.

“This conclusion was reached based on the analysis of surveys of 216 thousand participants in the research conducted over 36 years. During this period, 22 thousand people were diagnosed with the disease. It turned out that participants who consumed significant amounts of red meat had a 62% higher risk of developing diabetes. Replacing just one serving of meat with vegetable protein from nuts and legumes reduces the risk of diabetes by 30%, the nutritionist said.
