The company said all revenue comes from paid subscriptions and pay-per-view events. According to data from OnlyFans itself, the resource has more than 400 million users around the world. The company generates more than half of its revenue from microtransactions rather than subscriptions.

“I think the reason people pay for Onlyfans is because they want to see specific creators and get specific content,” Blair says.

Onlyfans noted that it requests payment information from the user during registration. The company believes that this solution is better than introducing paid access to content that was previously free.

Onlyfans also started offering grants to musicians in 2021.

In April 2022, the company stopped supporting Russian content authors and froze payments.

In July 2024, the Fastcompany resource discovered that Onlyfans stars are increasingly entrusting correspondence with their fans to chatbots.
