Autostat calculated that the average age of passenger cars in Russia is about 15 years, approximately 70% of all passenger cars are 10-year-old cars.
Stanislav Evtyukov, member of the Association of Transport Engineers (ATI), professor at the Faculty of Automotive and Highways of the St. Petersburg State University of Civil Engineering, told the publication that it is necessary to ensure the independence of maintenance operators of the interested parties. including commercial structures. ATI believes that during the technical inspection, special emphasis should be given to the systems that guarantee the active and passive safety of the vehicle (braking systems, steering, suspension elements).
The vice-president of the VSS, Sergei Efremov, is convinced that in a few years the technical inspection as it currently exists will disappear. Efremov believes that all units and components will be equipped with the necessary sensors, the program in the car will detect the technical condition and transmit information to various databases, and in case of certain malfunctions the car will be blocked.
In early October, a campaign for the annual indexation of vehicle inspection fees began in Russia. Five regions have already increased prices and two more plan to do so. The new rates must be established by December 20.
