The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) ordered MTS to transfer 3 billion rubles to the state budget.
In May 2024, the operator will increase the cost of cellular services by 8% on average for more than 30 million subscribers. The agency recognized it as infringing on the interests of consumers and unfounded. It was 3 billion rubles that became illegal enrichment.
In addition, the operator must reduce tariffs for subscribers, which has affected the increase in the cost of cellular services.
FAS Russia believes that such a large fine is commensurate with the enrichment and will contribute to the effective prevention of such unfair practices among telecom operators.
