The government submitted the bill to the State Duma. The initiative was developed as part of the implementation of Vladimir Putin’s instructions to ensure rapid growth of the minimum wage, so that in 2030 it will be more than double that in 2023. It is expected that by 2030 the minimum wage will be at least 35 thousand rubles a month.
The explanatory note of the bill states that its adoption will increase the wages of around 4.2 million workers and the ratio between the minimum wage and the average wage will increase to 48%. At the end of 2023, the average salary in Russia was 46,751 rubles.
In August, LDPR deputies proposed increasing the minimum wage by 56%, up to 30 thousand rubles from 2025. In addition, the party called for amendments to the Labor Code to prohibit the payment of real wages below the minimum wage after taxes.
