For the use of devices that do not allow the license plate to be read or can modify it, you now face deprivation of rights for a period of one to one and a half years, and the device itself will be confiscated.
For the same period, the driver’s license will be revoked for repeated driving of a vehicle without license plates or using concealment materials, as well as for driving without license plates or with license plates covered with leaves, papers, etc.
Previously, drivers received a warning or a fine of 500 rubles for driving with dirty or illegible license plates. Traveling without them, hiding them or deliberately changing them could lead to deprivation of rights for 1-3 months or a fine of 5 thousand rubles. Installation of false license plates entailed a fine of 2.5 thousand rubles, and driving with them meant deprivation of a driving license for up to a year.
The first vice-chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council, Irina Rukavishnikova, told RIA Novosti that the adopted rules will help prevent traffic accidents.
In early October, the State Duma approved in second and third reading a law that will allow drivers to be deprived of their license for driving without a license plate or hiding it for a period of one year to a year and a half.
