Mahle pioneered magnetless motor technology by introducing the Magnetless Contactless Transmitter (MCT) system in 2021, which uses wireless induction to magnetize the rotor. This design not only reduces dependence on rare earth materials, but also eliminates physical wear, making engines more durable and compact.

Valeo brings its expertise in the field of stators and control systems, building on its work on the E7A engine, developed in collaboration with Renault and planned for launch in 2027. Advanced copper wire winding technology will be a key element of the new motor design.

The joint project aims to create an engine with a power of 220−350 kW (295−469 hp) for premium cars.

Prototypes are expected to be ready by the end of 2024.
