Next year it is planned to launch around 100 devices and between 2026 and 2027 the manufacturer hopes to increase the volume to several thousand servers. According to the publication’s interlocutor, Fplus servers with GPU cards are suitable for running neural network algorithms and signal and image processing, but are not intended for artificial intelligence (AI) training.
GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is a graphics processing unit used to process and display computer graphics. GPUs were originally designed to improve graphics performance, especially in computer gaming and display. However, modern GPUs are also used for other tasks that require high performance.
The market leaders are Nvidia and AMD, which produce graphics cards for various purposes: from gaming to professional tasks related to data processing and artificial intelligence.
STC “Module” has already presented two types of cards: NM Quard 20 GB and NM Card 5 GB, which will be installed on Fplus “Voskhod” servers. These components are included in the national product register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and run under the Russian Astra Linux operating system, an Fplus representative said.
Ruslan Permyakov, deputy director of the NTI Competence Center “Trusted Interaction Technologies”, believes that STC “Module” solutions will be in demand in specific tasks, such as running trained artificial intelligence (AI) models and image processing. However, the lack of AI training on these devices will be a serious limitation to their widespread use in commercial projects.
According to independent expert Alexey Boyko, STC Module products are not yet capable of replacing Nvidia solutions, but they can become competitive in certain narrow market segments.
Scientific and Technical Center JSC “Modulo” has been working in the Russian market of high-tech solutions for more than 30 years. Since 1995, the company has been developing high-performance processor cores and system-on-chip systems with analog-to-digital architecture. According to information published on the company’s website, STC “Module” is engaged in the creation of control and monitoring equipment for advanced aviation and space systems. The company also develops hardware and software solutions in the field of neural networks, including video and image sequence processing, navigation, communications, object detection and recognition, and also carries out research and development (R&D) work. by contract.
