Rising prices of launch vehicle parts and increasing costs of launch complexes have become the causes of the rising cost of satellite launches, he noted. Previously, the average launch cost was $60 to $80 million, but now it reaches $100 million, depending on the type of device and launch conditions.
The cost of satellites in Russia has increased by 20 to 30%, Mansurov clarified. He highlighted that import substitution in the space industry faces difficulties due to restrictions from potential partners such as China and India.
“Despite political support, in practice trade relations with these countries are complicated, since the volume of the Russian market is insignificant – about 1% of the world,” Mansurov explained.
He also noted that minimum orders of more than 50 units of a single element could pose challenges, jeopardizing plans to produce large quantities of satellites. However, small projects can be implemented; the sanctions do not affect them.
In June 2024, the NTI Sovereign Technology Fund announced the creation of three new sub-funds for investments in wireless technologies and the aerospace industry with a total volume of 18 billion rubles.
Roscosmos plans to launch the production of satellites with transporters in 2026 on the basis of two companies: JSC ISS named after him. Alaska. MF Reshetnev in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and NPO named after him. SA Lavochkina in the Moscow region. The project is estimated at 60 billion rubles.
