Google Photos now allows you to make advanced edits to HDR photos with less loss of quality. The news comes thanks to a new artificial intelligence model offered by the company.
For a long time, Google Photos has been able to change High Dynamic Range images in the editing menu. However, R.the result is often not the bestsometimes leaving it in captures more opaque, dull, or missing contrast.
With this new model Google promises better results with edited images. The technology tries to predict areas of the image that lack high dynamic range metadata and fills them with possible data.
This way, HDR images remain in their original dynamic range even when you make deep changes, such as removing elements using the Magic Eraser.
Advanced editing tools like Magic Eraser, Trained to receive and return images in SDR (Standard Dynamic Range). Therefore, when HDR is applied to images, the results are almost “overlaid” and create an artifact in the final image.
