The State Duma approved regulations allowing the government to ban mining in certain regions of the country.
These measures apply both to individual subjects and to specific regions. The government will also be able to set requirements for mining infrastructure operators.
The Russian Federal Tax Service will now keep a register of miners previously controlled by the Ministry of Digital Development. Infrastructure operators will not be able to provide services to those who are not included in the registry or excluded from the registry.
These measures aim to strengthen control and regulation of the cryptocurrency market.
The law will come into force on November 1, 2024 and will give the government broad powers to control mining and other cryptocurrency operations in the country.
