SS Kutateladze of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Rusnano and Rospatent.
As RBC writes, in 2012-2013, MCD Technologies patented a method for the synthesis of carbon nanotubes. The company’s main registered trademark is OCSiAl. The company with this name was founded in 2009 by physicist Mikhail Predtechensky and businessmen Yuri Koropachinsky, Oleg Kirillov and Yuri Zelvensky.
In 2014, Rusnano became a co-owner of OCSiAl, which invested a total of $20 million in the project and later purchased its Eurobonds for another $40 million, Forbes reported. In 2019, OCSiAl became a “unicorn”: it was valued at $1 billion by billionaire Alexander Mamut’s A&NN group, which acquired 0.5% of the startup’s shares from Rusnano for $5 million. Then, the state corporation kept 17.3% and the founders. – 47% and voting control.
In April 2024, Rusnano Deputy General Director Dmitry Tarasov said in an interview with TASS that Russia “lost a unique global product” due to the fact that OCSiAl moved its production assets and intellectual property abroad. According to Tarasov, the shareholders of MCD Technologies “avoid connections with Russia” and are trying to restart the production of graphene nanotubes abroad “on the Russian mental, material and technical basis.”
