A Garda investigation has shown that many citizens affected by data leaks are prepared to refuse the services of companies that allow them. 69% of respondents said they would no longer use such services if their data was lost; This is an increase of 6% compared to last year.

Additionally, the number of people ignoring leaks dropped from 51% to 37%. This shows that citizens are starting to pay more attention to the security of their data. Russian activity in responding to leaks has also increased in 2024 – 21% of respondents contacted companies that allowed their data to be lost, 4% more than in 2023.

Complaints to supervisory authorities and appeals to the court have become more frequent. The proportion of Russians filing complaints increased from 10 percent to 17 percent, and the proportion of those making claims increased from 2 percent to 4 percent. Participants also began changing their passwords more frequently, blocking and reissuing debit cards, using double authentication, and deleting accounts on leaked services.
