Sam Altman covers Orion with dirt: here’s what he said about his new AI model

This Thursday, October 24, The Verge reported that December 2024 will be the date for a new update of the replacement models. GPT-4o and o1 (also called Strawberry). This is Orion, which could potentially be the company’s GPT-5.

“The head of OpenAI announced that Orion is potentially 100 times more powerful than GPT-4; It is independent of the o1 reasoning model that OpenAI launched in September. Sam Altman denies everything

However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman spoke out against this journalistic leak.

The businessman used his X (Twitter) account to categorically deny the imminent launch of OpenAI’s new artificial intelligence model – whether it’s called Orion or not. “Fake news is out of control”posted in response to a tweet from Kylie Robison, who co-wrote the original article with Tom Warren.

Another social media user responded to Altman that the denial had “ruined everyone’s night,” to which the businessman replied: “Don’t worry, there’s a lot of good things coming. “But I am offended by the way the media is willing to publish random fantasies.”

On the other hand, an OpenAI representative told Techcrunch that a model called Orion is not on the way.

“We have no plans to launch a model codenamed Orion this year. We plan to launch many other great technologies.”
