The case was first noticed on the Mash Telegram channel. In the lawsuit, it is reported that SIDL wishes to transfer the rights to the Xiaomi brand in Russia to itself. They explain their demand by owning the global Xiaomi brand, and under it they produce jewelry, plates, sleeping masks, household appliances and more.

At the same time, as CNews found out, this “conflict” began in November 2021, but the trial only started to progress the other day. The next hearing will be held on August 8 this year. According to Mash, representatives of the Moscow Arbitration Court turned to Chinese authorities to investigate the situation.

Given Samsung’s situation last year, when imports of 61 models of the company’s smartphones into Russia were banned due to a patent dispute, the SIDL claim seems unlikely to be satisfied. Yes, in the Samsung case, the Court of Appeals overturned the ban, but that only happened in March of this year.
