Between January and September 2024, the growth in the number of sellers on the markets slowed to 17% compared to the same period in 2023 (last year the increase was 38% compared to 2022). This is stated by a study conducted by analysts of the Tochka Marketplaces service, available on RB.RU.

At the same time, according to experts, the trend towards an increase in the number of sellers continues. According to their data, the most notable increase in sellers during the three quarters of 2024 was recorded at Megamarket (an increase of 122.2% compared to the same period in 2023). In second place in terms of indicator was Yandex Market (with 26.6%) and in third place Wildberries (with 24.7%). On Ozon, the number of sellers increased by 3.2%, while on AliExpress and Magnit Market they decreased by 29.8% and 6.4%, respectively, according to the study.
It also follows that the most profitable market in January-September 2024 was Ozon: the average turnover of sellers on this platform increased by 31% year-on-year, up to 360 thousand rubles, with Wilberries in second place (up 2.6% up to 716 thousand rubles). For sellers on other online platforms, the average turnover decreased: on Magnit Market – by 38%, to 133 thousand rubles, on AliExpress – by 24.3%, to 46.5 thousand rubles, on Megamarket – by 14.4 %, up to 694 thousand rubles, in Yandex Market – 6.7%, up to 202 thousand rubles.
Analysts also found that the largest number of sellers in the markets (relative to the total number of sellers living in a particular region) are located in Kalmykia (36%), Mordovia (26%) and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (24%). Among the top five regions by number of sellers are also Moscow (21%) and Karachay-Cherkessia (18%).
To carry out the calculations, analysts analyzed the seller base from January to September 2024 and compared it with the same period in 2023.
