According to the case file, a 31-year-old man took advantage of a flaw in Wildberries’ payment system, which allowed him to receive products for free. At first, the defendant asked for inexpensive items, but after making sure the plan was working, he began ordering jewelry, clothing, building materials, phones, laptops and automotive equipment, according to the report.

A case was opened against the Orenburg resident under section 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code (large-scale fraud). At the trial he fully admitted his guilt and said that he sold the goods he received and handed them over to a pawnshop, the court’s press service clarified.

This is not the first time that Russians have taken advantage of a Wildberries malfunction to order products for free. In mid-October, a 23-year-old Krasnoyarsk resident defrauded the market of 1.2 million rubles. A case of large-scale fraud was also opened against her. The article provides for up to 10 years in prison.
