Following U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta’s ruling upholding Google’s monopoly status, Kent Walker, Google’s president of global affairs, sent an email urging employees to “refrain from commenting” on the case.
Labor law experts warn that the directive “could stifle employees’ protected discussions about working conditions.” Google, on the other hand, claims to respect employees’ right to discuss working conditions.
The NLRB is currently investigating the case, and although resolution may take time, Google is also preparing to meet with the Justice Department in April about proposed action against “anti-competitive practices.”
