Data from 60,252 people newly diagnosed with dementia in South Korea were used in the study. The average age of the participants was 74 and 72% had Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers assessed physical activity using an international survey and divided participants into groups based on activity levels.
Maintaining regular physical activity before and after diagnosis has been found to be associated with the greatest reduction in the risk of death. Even light exercises such as walking showed a 30% reduction in risk. It is worth noting that the risk of death decreases by 3% by gradually increasing the level of physical activity.
