The new unmanned Gazelle is powered by an electric motor and equipped with a range of sensors such as lidars, video cameras, inertial navigation system and GPS. Lidars allow you to determine the distance to surrounding objects at any time of the day, and video cameras collect visual information to analyze the situation on the road.
The system processes data and makes decisions about the truck’s actions on public roads. Artificial intelligence algorithms help filter and analyze information from sensors effectively.
According to Ekaterina Maslennikova, assistant of the automatic control systems department, the development has already been successfully tested in autonomous mode on public roads in the Republic of Tatarstan. In the future, an unmanned truck could be used to transport goods in industrial facilities.
