The new iMacs have been enthusiastically described as the first Apple computers to support such monitors. And that these devices “outperform” even the most powerful MacBook Pro, Mac Studio and Mac Pro, which support displays with 6K resolution at 120 Hz.

But this turned out to be an unfortunate mistake: Apple quickly dropped the promise of 8k monitor support. Information from 9to5Mac confirmed that in the correspondence, Apple explained that the announcement of 8K support at 120 Hz on its website was an error. 9to5Mac pointed out that “iMac M4 does not support this specification.”
