Apple introduced a new Mac mini with M4 chip: it is half the size of the previous model

The design of the device almost does not differ from the previous model – the Mac mini presented in 2023 with the M2 processor. However, the new PC is noticeably smaller than its predecessor: its height is 5 cm, each side measures 12.7 cm (compared to 19.7 cm for last year’s model), the weight has decreased by 1.2 kg to 700 g and the area occupied by the computer will occupy your table, – from 388.1 cm² to 161.3 cm².

The base model has a 10-core CPU and GPU and a 16-core neural processor, 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal SSD memory. The Pro version has a 12-core central processor, 16-core graphics and neural processors, 24 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory.

The device is equipped with two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, three Thunderbolt ports, an HDMI connector, and a LAN port that supports internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

You can connect two displays up to 6K and one up to 5K resolution to a Mac mini on the M4, and three displays up to 6K at the same time to a computer on the M4 Pro.

Both versions of the device support Apple Intelligence thanks to the macOS Sequoia 15.1 operating system, among the functions are tools for working with English text, writing tools and an updated AI voice assistant, Siri.

The cheapest version of the Mac mini in the M4 will cost 599 dollars (approximately 58.3 thousand rubles at the exchange rate of the Central Bank as of October 30), the most expensive version in the M4 Pro will cost 1.4 thousand dollars. Sales will begin in the United States. on November 8.

• Previously, Amazon released the technical specifications of the updated Mac mini ahead of its official announcement. The US market later removed the information.

• On October 28, Apple introduced the iMac M4. The company claims that this all-in-one PC is up to 1.7 times faster in everyday tasks and up to 2.1 times faster in demanding processes (such as photo editing and gaming) compared to the iMac M1.
