Spending by Russian tourists in Kazakhstan in 2024 increased by 8.6%. Russians spent 1.8 billion tenge (364 million rubles) in the neighboring country, the highest figure among all foreign citizens.

According to a survey by the National Statistics Office of Kazakhstan, cited by Finprom.kz, foreign tourists spent 4.1 billion tenge in the country in 2024. 43.8% of this amount came from Russians.
Among the foreign tourists who brought the highest income to Kazakhstan in 2024 are also residents of Uzbekistan (392.8 million tenge), Turkey (299.7 million), Kyrgyzstan (195.4 million) and China (184.4 million).
The majority of spending by foreigners in Kazakhstan goes to transportation (airline tickets, train tickets and international buses) – 48.8%. The proportion of food expenses is 17%. In addition, purchases are one of the three items that require the most capital.
The total amount of spending by foreign tourists in Kazakhstan increased over the year by 13.4%; in 2023 it was equivalent to 3.6 billion tenge, or about 727 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
