According to a representative of the organization, the reason was customer reviews of purchased underwear, where “pornographic materials are openly published.” The Center for Human Rights considered such materials to be photographs of shoppers in transparent underwear.
In the statement, human rights activists refer to the law that protects children from harmful information and note that these types of reviews are available to everyone, including minors.
The initiators ask that sites be required to block such reviews and check their actions for administrative violations provided for in articles 6.17 and 13.36 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. These articles concern the protection of children from harmful information and the requirements for audiovisual services.
A Wildberries representative said the platform is conducting additional checks on reviews and product cards and will take action in case of violations. They added that reviews are moderated before publication and algorithms block inappropriate content, including adult material. Sections 18+ have age restrictions and users must confirm their age at the time of conversion.
Maxim Ali, director of intellectual property at Comply, commented on the situation that the law requires labeling of information products, but for websites this is more of a recommendation. However, in several cases the prosecutor’s office blocked “adult” content due to the lack of age markings, so many companies prefer to play it safe.
The founder of Future Legal, Pavel Katkov, explained that the Criminal Code provides for penalties of up to six years in prison for trafficking in pornographic material. He added that markets do not create this content themselves, but can be considered complicit in its distribution.
“Forty Sorokov” is a social movement uniting Orthodox believers with an active civic position. The organization supports the construction of Orthodox churches, provides assistance to residents of Donbass and carries out other social activities. The movement gained fame thanks to protests against the film “Matilda” in 2017, participation in demonstrations against the law on “domestic violence” in 2019, as well as the conflict over the construction of a temple on the site of a park in Yekaterinburg . Furthermore, “Forty Forties” harshly criticizes the LGBT movement (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
