According to Musk, Tesla may launch its own phone if the main manufacturers (Apple, Google, Samsung and others) stop coping with their responsibilities and their products break. But the vendor has no plans to produce gadgets for the foreseeable future because “that’s not what we want to do.”
Musk also noted that Tesla is quite capable of not only producing smartphones but also developing its own software for them, as the company has experience producing complex operating systems based on Linux.
