This AI-powered tool lets you rewrite sentences and change the tone and length of text right in Notepad. To use, select the text, right-click and select AI suggestions, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I. Users can turn off the AI if they prefer to type manually.
This means that spell checking in Notepad has taken more than four decades, but creating an AI that can rewrite text has only taken a few months. Wonderful.
Meanwhile, the Paint app also comes with AI-enabled features: Generative Fill and Generative Erase. Generative Fill lets you add or edit visual elements to photos and drawings by simply drawing a selection and describing what you want to add. The Productive Erase tool allows you to erase images selectively and using the smart eraser.
Let’s remember that the Microsoft Notepad text editor, which was born in 1983, only gained a spell check function this summer.
