In the tvOS 18.2 beta, 9to5Mac journalists discovered the AdBlocker framework. In addition to the name, one might assume that this is just another ad blocker, but not entirely true.
AdBlocker is associated with ShazamKit and the process associated with controlling Siri and “Hey Siri” voice commands. The code stipulates that AdBlocker should listen to Siri and “Hey Siri” phrases when they voice commercials and Apple presentations, so as not to launch the assistant. It is unknown whether AdBlocker’s work will extend to other types of content.
The feature will likely be available on Apple TV and HomePod first. tvOS 18.2 is expected to release in December.
