A recently published review shows that the new Mac mini features modular storage, meaning it can be swapped out without soldering. But as with Mac Studio, the replacement process remains complicated.
Previously, the base model Mac mini with the M2 chip used a single 256GB memory stick, resulting in slower SSD speeds than higher-capacity models and facing criticism from users for 30% to 50% lower performance. According to media reports, with the configuration change, the new Mac mini model will now offer more consistent speeds even with basic memory.
