Summer terraces of cafes and restaurants in Moscow will be able to continue operating in winter. The corresponding resolution was signed by the mayor of the city, Sergei Sobyanin, the press service of the mayor’s office reports.

Terraces can now be used all year round, but owners must ensure their safety by clearing the surrounding area of snow and ice within a radius of five meters.
Terraces should also not interfere with the work of public services. If the establishment does not comply with the mayor’s instructions, the commission on consumer market issues of the Moscow government can force it to dismantle the terrace.
“The possibility of preserving seasonal terraces in winter will reduce the financial burden for catering establishments, since owners will not have to bear the costs of dismantling in autumn and installing structures in spring,” highlighted the mayor’s office.
Starting in 2022, entrepreneurs will be able to electronically design the layout of seasonal terraces in restaurants and cafes. In 2022, there were almost 4 thousand terraces in Moscow, about half of which are located in the Central Administrative District, as previously noted by the press service of the mayor’s office.
