Apple analyst Jeff Pu filed a stop note on the iPhone 17.
According to him, the new smartphones will use a “more complex aluminum design”, a disadvantage of the iPhone 16, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a smaller Dynamic Island cutout. The latter will be made possible thanks to metalens technology to bring the sensor closer. This mechanical change could significantly reduce the size of the Face ID sensor.
In addition, the A19 and A19 Pro processors will be manufactured using the new 3nm N3P process in the N3E key used for the A18 chips in the iPhone 16 models. This will increase performance and improve energy efficiency by converting transistor density.
Apple won’t switch to 2nm until at least 2026.
Finally, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will be the most restrictive iPhone yet, even surpassing the iPhone 6, with a 6mm thick body. [9to5]
