The main directions of the laboratory’s work are the creation of biologically active proteins for the treatment of cancer and orphan diseases, as well as the use of cell engineering to create superproducing cells. University Rector Ivan Petrov noted that such research is an important step in the development of biotechnology both at the university and in the Tyumen region as a whole.

The laboratory is currently implementing the Biotechpharma project, which aims to obtain biologically complete proteins from carrot and spinach cells. These proteins will help patients recover after chemotherapy treatment by filling the deficiency of essential amino acids. In the future, it is planned to develop appropriate dosage forms that will allow amino acids to reach patients’ organs and tissues directly.

Graduate students studying in the Biotechnology program of Tyumen Medical University work in the laboratory and in St. They will intern at the biotechnology company Biocad in St. Petersburg, which will give them practical skills in this high-tech field.
