This adapter was introduced with the iPhone 7 in 2016 when Apple decided to abandon the traditional headphone jack. It was included in new iPhones for several years, but with the launch of the iPhone XS in 2018, the company stopped including it in the box and asked users to purchase a separate adapter or use other solutions such as wireless AirPods.
With the iPhone 15, which was announced last year, switching to USB-C, Apple is increasingly restricting the sales of Lightning accessories. Only a few adapters and Lightning cables remain on the company’s online store, including an audio cable for AirPods Max.
