Among the new products coming to Kazakhstan are the beer brands Brander Bier, Platina Latina, Dragon, Volny Vlk, as well as the energy drinks TGR Force and Piranha’s Slam.
Baltika is the largest producer in Russia, producing up to 620 million decaliters of beer per year. The company owns such brands as Zhigulevskoye, Don and others, as well as eight factories throughout the country, including enterprises in Voronezh, Novosibirsk and St. Petersburg.
In July 2023, by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Baltika was transferred to the directorate of the Federal Property Management Agency. Previously, the brewing company belonged to the Danish Carlsberg group.
The temporary cessation of Russian beer exports to Kazakhstan was due to a dispute with the Kazakh division of the Danish company Carlsberg Kazakhstan, Orda.kz previously wrote. The Federal Property Management Agency, as temporary administrator, banned Carlsberg Kazakhstan from producing products under the Baltika brand.
The department’s decision was upheld by a St. Petersburg court on January 24, 2024, which deprived Danes of the right to use Baltika trademarks in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Mongolia and Turkmenistan.
According to a study by the Agroexport center in July of this year, the supply of Russian beer to Kazakhstan in 2026 is expected to amount to 71,000 tons, with a value of approximately $32 million. According to the center’s experts, Russia’s share in Kazakh beer imports will increase. from 60% in 2024 to 62% in 2026.
Previously, Baltika regained the rights to the Zatecky Gus beer brand. The company attempted to register the Zatecky Gus brand in 2009, but Rospatent refused to register it and until now Baltika produced beer under a license from its Czech subsidiary.
