The new Nike sneaker is called the Air Max 1000 and is inspired by the 1987 Air Max 1, which was Nike’s first sneaker to feature an air cushion in the heel. There is also an air cushion built into the heel of 3D printed sneakers, but this is not produced from a printer.
The rest of the sneaker is printed by combining layers of different densities and textures. According to a Nike representative, the sneakers feature a contoured design that cannot be made using traditional methods, only on a printer.
The sole of the sneaker remains rigid and the upper is flexible and stretches to fit any foot, so you can wear the shoes without laces.
