The half moon, also known as the first quarter, is one of the eight phases of the Moon and one of the four intermediate phases. Here, half of the surface of the Earth’s natural satellite is illuminated by the Sun, with the visible portion varying between 40% and 59%.

In addition to Brazil, the doodle can also be viewed in Mexico, Canada, the USA, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and some parts of Europe. It will also be available throughout the day for search engine users in regions across the African continent, the Mountain View company announced.

The illustration celebrating the half-moon, which replaces the Google logo on the search engine’s home page, can be seen on both computers and mobile devices. This print also includes a wallpaper to accompany the lunar cycle and can be downloaded from the doodle page.

Testing your knowledge about the moon

Do you know all about the phases of the lunar cycle? In the game that accompanies today’s doodle, simply start the game by clicking on the illustration on the Google homepage, and you can test your knowledge on the subject by pushing the search engine.
