The ceremony took place on November 11, when the mayors of Taipei and New Taipei, Chiang Wan’an and Hou Yuyi, jointly announced the new structure of the Wanda-Zhonghe metro line.
The train was produced by the French company Alstom. Its delivery was a massive logistics project, starting from a factory in Brazil and reaching Taiwan via the Atlantic and Singapore.
The new train was an important step for the first phase of the construction of the line, which will be completed in 2027.
The Wanda-Zhonghe Line will connect Wanhua, Zhonghe and Tucheng districts and reduce travel time between Zhonghe High School and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall stations to 14 minutes, twice as fast as the current route.
The fully automatic unmanned system runs on steel wheels. Each of the four-car trains can seat up to 700 passengers and offer residents modern amenities and comfort.
