The owners of the book trading house Biblio-Globus plan to put it up for sale due to falling business volume, amid competition with markets and deteriorating operational performance. This was reported to Kommersant by four sources from the publishing sector and two from the commercial real estate market.

Earlier in Cyana an advertisement was published about the rental of three floors of a store on Moscow’s Lubyanka with an area of 3.6 thousand square meters. m, wrote the newspaper “Cultura” on November 13. The advertisement has already been removed from publication, Kommersant clarified. Biblio-Globus did not respond to the newspaper’s request.
Alpina knows that the book trading house is looking for a tenant: “For us it was quite unpleasant news, since the store has been our partner for a long time,” Irina Antonova, marketing director of the publishing group, told Kommersant.
Among potential buyers of Biblio-Globus may be the Read-Gorod network, says Vladimir Kharitonov, technical director of Freedom Letters. Eksmo-AST, which manages Read-Gorod, did not respond to Kommersant’s request. The book trading house itself can be sold for 170-290 million rubles (0.5-0.8 capital), says Anna Avakimyan, chief analyst at Regblok.
“Biblio-Globus” was founded in 1957, when the house number 6 Myasnitskaya Street was moved to the store number 120 “Book World”. In 1992, Book World became Biblio-Globus. Now it sells more than 200 thousand items: books, stationery, coins, bonds, stamps and others.
According to Rusprofile, in 2023 the revenue of Biblio-Globus Trading House LLC amounted to 493 million rubles, a decrease of 16.73% compared to 2022, and the net loss was 18 million rubles against a loss of 21 million of rubles last year.
