a little robot Started a dialogue and “hijacked” 12 more large robots at an exhibition in China. The incident, which took place in August and only came to light in recent days, went viral on Chinese and Western social media, raising the concerns of many people along with its humorous aspects.

The exhibition’s security cameras captured a small robot named Erbai appearing in one of the showroom installations in Shanghai and initiating a dialogue with other models. The little model asks the old people if they “work overtime” and they immediately respond. Reply “I never leave work”.

The conversation escalates to the point where the little robot questions whether its older colleagues will go home after work. These larger versions reveal that “he does not have a home”. Immediately, Erbai says that the others can return home with him and leads the escape.other models follow suit.

Frame or real?

The video, which went viral, was met with both surprise and skepticism until the company responsible for its production, Hangzhou-based Erbai, confirmed the authenticity of the content on November 11. Shortly thereafter, the company in charge of the showroom announced that the small robot had access to the internal operating and permission protocol of the models on display.

The Shanghai company also underlined that it is almost impossible for a robot to rebel and alienate other models in this way, as seen in the images. However, the company responsible for Erbai confirmed that this was all just a big test and had asked showroom owners if they would accept deliberate “hijacking” of their robots.

But the Hangzhou company gave the order to make it happen, without specifying the parameters or how things should be done. According to them, everything shown in the video was legitimate and none of the actions had been rehearsed before.
