in 2021 A halfFacebook’s parent company, paid nearly $27 million for the personal safety of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of the company. Hardly any other tech company, Bloomberg writes, spends so much on the security of its administrators.

In Meta’s official documents, the company explicitly mentions a security fee of $15.2 million. But the figure is only partial. According to Bloomberg, Meta spent another $10 million in 2021 on the personal safety of Mark Zuckerberg and his family and $1.6 million on a private jet given exclusively to the company founder.

All in all, for the safety and travel of Zuckerberg Meta spent $26.8 million Executives’ personal safety spending was up 6% year-on-year – an increase that would be explained by the additional charges needed to guarantee the new prevention protocols against Covid-19.

No other technology company spends as much on ensuring the safety of its executives. Amazon spent just $1.6 million on Jeff Bezos in 2021, while Tesla does not list this item on its balance sheet.

But Meta’s crazy spending doesn’t end with Jeff Bezos. In 2021, the company will spend an additional $9 million on the security of Sheryl Sandberg, Meta’s COO and Zuckerberg’s right-hand man. Again, the figure is only partial, as an additional $2.3 million was spent on the director’s jet and flights over the same period.
